How to install the Oversify Chrome extension
Takes about two minutes. Works on Chrome, Brave, Edge, and other Chromium-based browsers.
Step 1: Download the extension
Click the Download Extension button above. Your browser will save a file called oversify-extension.zip to your Downloads folder.
Step 2: Unzip the file
Find oversify-extension.zip in your Downloads folder and double-click it to unzip. You should now see a folder named oversify-extension (or similar) with the extension files inside.
- On Mac: double-clicking the .zip automatically creates the unzipped folder next to it.
- On Windows: right-click the .zip and choose Extract All…, then click Extract.
Keep this folder somewhere you won't accidentally delete it — Chrome loads the extension directly from this folder.
Step 3: Open the Chrome extensions page
In Chrome, type the following into the address bar and press Enter:
chrome://extensions
You can also open it from the menu: Chrome → Window → Extensions, or click the puzzle-piece icon in the toolbar and choose Manage Extensions.
Step 4: Turn on Developer mode
In the top-right corner of the Extensions page, flip the Developer mode toggle to On. A new row of buttons will appear at the top of the page.
Step 5: Load the extension
Click Load unpacked in the new row of buttons. A file picker will open. Select the unzipped oversify-extension folder from Step 2 and click Select (or Open).
The Oversify extension will appear in your list of installed extensions, and the Oversify icon will show up in your Chrome toolbar.
Step 6: Pin the extension (recommended)
Click the puzzle-piece icon in the Chrome toolbar, find Oversifyin the list, and click the pin icon next to it. This keeps the Oversify icon visible in the toolbar so it's always one click away.
Step 7: Finish setup in Oversify
Head back to the Oversify onboarding tab. The page should automatically detect that the extension is installed and let you continue to the next step. If it doesn't, click Check again.
Troubleshooting
- “Manifest file is missing or unreadable”: you selected the wrong folder. Make sure you selected the unzipped folder (the one that contains manifest.json), not the .zip itself.
- The Load unpacked button isn't showing: Developer mode isn't turned on yet. Toggle it on in the top-right corner of chrome://extensions.
- Onboarding still says “Not installed”: refresh the onboarding page, or click Check again. If the extension is disabled, re-enable it from chrome://extensions.
- You moved or deleted the folder: Chrome will show an error and disable the extension. Re-download the .zip, unzip it to a permanent location, and load it again from there.
